About Us
VKL are a non-emergency patient transport service specialising in the conveyance of people with mental health needs.
About This Role
30 hours a week office based. Following completion of training, there is also the opportunity to work on as ambulance crew to increase hours if desired.
The Fleet technician and coordinator will be responsible for managing and maintaining our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are regularly inspected and roadworthy. They will also log, assess, coordinate, and dispatch teams locally and nationally, ensuring the right crew and vehicle are dispatched as needed. The post holder will work as part of a small, close team, who are all expected to help one another in their roles. Duties will also include general administrative responsibilities and good IT skills are essential.
The post-holder will also be trained up as ambulance crew, and may be expected to go on the road as part of their responsibilities (once fully trained).
**The role comes with an on-call requirement. This is a contractual commitment of one mid week night per week, and one weekend per calendar month. All on-call commitments are worked from home with equipment provided.
The hours offered may be non-standard hours, with some evening working up to 8pm at least once or twice per week.
Your Qualities
We are looking for someone who:
- is familiar with light vehicle maintenance, ideally with a qualification
- is able to drive manual vehicles
- learns quickly
- has an attention to detail
- has good relationship building skills
- communicates well, and has a good telephone manner
- can work independently and on their own initiative.
No previous experience is required, full training is provided.
While training there is a probationary period and salary of up to £19,500PA.
