At British Gypsum we are looking for a Mine Fitter, to work in a small, focussed, multi-disciplinary team, at our Mine in East Leake. You’ll participate in delivering continuous improvement projects as well as operating all of the underground equipment.

Your role will be critical in ensuring production targets are met, meaning an overall positive experience for our customers.

This role operates a 3 shift, staggered days pattern, which includes 2 Saturdays per month, with week 4 off.

What we’re looking for:

• You will have undertaken a recognised mechanical apprenticeship (or similar)
• Several years’ experience installing and maintaining equipment particularly conveyance/ continuous mining and material handling equipment
• Experience of underground mining systems and associated Permits to Work would be an advantage
• An understanding of SCADA control systems would be helpful
• Experience of working on heavy plant machinery
• Coming from a mining background would be advantageous but not essential

What you will be doing:

You will be accountable for your own and your colleagues’ health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard. You will be expected to have an analytical mind and be able to apply those skills to problem solving and decision making and be able to clearly communicate with others.

Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset, as well as both reactive and planned electrical maintenance work, there will be a need to operate the underground equipment to a high standard, alongside the mining and mechanical operatives.

When required you willperform planned maintenance and react appropriately to breakdowns in order to keep the mining equipment active and performing well.

The tasks in which you’ll apply the continuous improvement tools will involve all aspects of the mine equipment operation, to professional maintenance.
