Position of Multi Skilled Engineer
WME specialise in the design, manufacture and servicing of waste management equipment and our range of services includes:
- Installation, commissioning, and training.
- Regular maintenance PPM visits.
- Breakdown cover.
- Decommissioning.
- Design and manufacture of new equipment.
- Refurbishment of equipment.
We deal with all types of waste equipment including conveyors, balers, wrappers, compactors, shredders, strappers, Tippers, over-band magnets & ECS separators. WME cover all areas of the UK, Ireland and Europe.
This role is both interesting and challenging and applicants require the ability to work on their own and as part of a team. This is a full time, 42.5hrs per week position (Mon – Fri 8.00am – 17:00pm including ½ hour for lunch). The job also includes regular overtime and will require staying away from home some nights and some weekend working, so giving the opportunity to earn a high income. The position also requires the candidate to be on call 1 in 8.

Main purpose of the job:
Working closely with the other service/installation Engineering team members to carry out
- Installation of both new and second-hand equipment.
- Service inspection of equipment in line with WME service check sheets/procedures
- Mechanical, Hydraulic and Electrical breakdown and fault finding on Recycling equipment.
- Mechanical, Hydraulic and Electrical repairs and refurbishment of Recycling equipment.
- Training of safe operation in the use of Recycling equipment.
- Completing worksheets, reports, check sheets and timesheets electronically on the engineers tablet and forwarding to the office on time to enable quote, spare parts and reports to be sent to our customers.
Main tasks of the job
The Multi Skilled Engineer is required to work with our complete team and is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and gain valuable experience whilst delivering a wide range of services on recycling and Waste handling/recycling equipment.
Main duties will include:
- Working safely and to the required standards.
- Working alone or as a team member.
- Servicing, breakdown, repairs and installation of Recycling and Waste handling equipment.
- Completing job reports / check sheets and emailing to the office on completion of jobs.
- Communicate with customer and provide telephone support as and when required.
- Help WME Ltd to grow via quality of work, commitment to the job, attitude, helpfulness and general assistance given to customer
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the following attributes:
- The willingness/dedication to stay away from home some nights (up to 7 days at a time) plus weekend working.
- Mechanical – Stripping and rebuild equipment in our workshop and on customer sites, installing new equipment on customer site, refurbishment of old equipment both on site and at our factory.
- Electrical – Fault finding on control circuits with 24 volt and 3 phase systems – PLC knowledge would be an advantage.
- Hydraulic – Fault finding and repair to Hydraulic systems.
- Computer literate – All Worksheets, timesheets and all other paperwork carried out on a Tablet/handheld device.
- Full clean Driving License.
- Communicate well, both face to face and over the telephone in a confident friendly manner.
- Ability to think on their feet and use own initiative.
- Ability to work independently with integrity and professionalism.
- Good team player with a willingness to commit to the company’s work ethic

Salary: From £50,000.00 per year
