Maintenance Engineer
South Parks Road, Oxford
Grade 6: £31,502 - £37,386 per annum
Rotating shift: Mon – Fri, Week 1, 10am – 6pm/Week 2, 7am - 3pm

You'll be part of our skilled Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) team of tradespeople, handling reactive maintenance, routine servicing, joinery, and more for the University's 200+ buildings. We ensure Oxford's facilities stay in tip-top shape 24/7.
As Maintenance Engineer, you'll be our mechanical maestro, trusted to monitor, diagnose, and repair systems to keep research and discovery firing on all cylinders. Your skills will ensure lectures enlighten uninterrupted, experiments continue smoothly, and the focus stays firmly fixed on the future.

In This Key Role You'll:
- Patrol across campus, inspecting and tuning machinery to optimise efficiency
- Respond fast to fix alerts and get operations back up ASAP
- Oversee complex installations and liaise with specialist contractors
- Recommend upgrades and adjustments to reduce energy usage
- Diagnose faults and suggest preventative fixes
- Handle urgent issues independently as they crop up
- Prioritise your own workload and decide next steps
You Must Have:
- Extensive experience maintaining mechanical systems
- Excellent diagnostic skills across building systems
- Strong fault-finding abilities and technical knowledge
- An awareness of relevant health and safety policies and procedures and safe methods of working, and how to apply in a varied estate
- Aptitude for working flexibly and independently
- Great IT skills and ability to keep thorough records
- Working knowledge of BMS and ideally Trend963
