Job purpose
To maintain and assist in the management of all electrical services within the College
Key responsibilities
· Maintain all electrical services to approved standards within the College.
· Identify faults and carry out repairs to electrical services, plant and equipment as appropriate.
· Ensure continuity of service and facilities for the benefit of the College and its customers.
· Respond to emergencies and breakdown of equipment.
· Undertake PAT testing equipment as required and maintain records of such work.
· Train and support Technicians in PAT testing.
· Locate and identify problems with lifts and in an emergency ensure the safe egress of passengers.
· Support all trades and plan and complete electrical work for both long-term maintenance and capital projects.
· Decommission and commission electrical services
· Undertake minor maintenance repairs such as boarding up windows and minor joinery repairs.
· Assist the Maintenance Officer in his duties and provide cover for him in his absence eg weekly meter reading and boiler checks.
· Programmed monthly checks of emergency light and fire alarm systems. Maintain records of all checks and works undertaken on these systems.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
· Update qualifications as required.
