Job Title: Maintenance Assistant
Location: Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Road, Oldham, OL1 2JH
Shift Pattern: Monday- Friday 7:30am-3pm or 9am-5pm (Rota- 37.5 hours a week)
Pay: £12.45 an hour

About the Trust:
The Northern Care Alliance is an NHS Foundation Trust (NCA FT) created by bringing together two NHS Trusts, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The NCA FT was formally established on 1 October 2021. The NCA has been working together as a group since 2016.
What you’ll be responsible for:
· Diagnose and repair faults on noncomplex electrical & mechanical services and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
· Assemble and install noncomplex electrical and mechanical services and equipment as required.
· Carry out installation, repairs and planned preventative maintenance on all aspects of noncomplex electrical and mechanical services and equipment.
· Carry out statutory inspections and testing on water systems and assist with fire alarm testing including completing all necessary documentation.
· Undertake non-complex tasks including fault finding.
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
· 2 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical services
· Experience of working within a hospital setting
· NVQ Level 2 in Electrical or Mechanical Services (desirable)
· Experience of using a fall arrest system when working at heights
· City & Guilds in PAT Testing (desirable)

- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing and replacing equipment, fixtures, and appliances
- Conduct inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from tenants or management
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment
- Assist with the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs
- Provide excellent customer service to tenants and address their maintenance concerns in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Proven experience in general maintenance or a related field
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Proficiency in using CMMS software for tracking and managing maintenance activities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to supervise a team of maintenance staff
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with tenants, contractors, and management
