Brainiac Detective Academy
Strap on your safety goggles! science’s greatest and most volatile team arrive with a vengeance! Refreshed, re-charged and ready to test your skills.
There has been a robbery at Brainiac HQ! Put your personal Brainiac Detective Badge on and help the Brainiacs solve the crime and use the power of forensic science to try finding who is guilty.
This 60-minute hands-on immersive activity, led by the Brainiacs, provides your young detectives with an opportunity to use real forensic techniques to discover clues and help solve a mystery.
Learn about the different types of fingerprints and how to extract them from crime scenes. The Trainee Detectives will also try to analyse the ink used to write the ransom note and a footprint found at the crime scene to find who committed the crime.
Brainiac Astronaut Academy
It’s 2037 and the Brainiac team are ready to explore new worlds and the red planet Mars, but need your help to design, build and launch your very own rocket.
This hugely entertaining, 60-minute hands on immersive activity, led by the Brainiacs, provides our young Astronauts and their families with an opportunity to test their Rocket Design, Engineering, and Space exploration skills.
The Brainiac team will help you build your ultimate space craft, but choose your craft materials wisely, understand the science of space, and remember, it’s t-minus 60 and the clock is ticking to launch!
ABOUT THE ROLE
Job Title: Front of House Assistant
Contract Type: Zero Hours
Show runs: (18th, 19th, 20th July 2023 training)21st July – 3rd September 2023
Reporting to: On Site Company Manager
Salary: £13 p/h
Purpose of the role – To ensure the smooth running of the Brainiac Academies at Bluewater Shopping Centre.
Key Working Relationships:
· Performers/Presenter
· On Site Company Manager
Key Tasks:
· To sell and check tickets on entry to show and organise customers onto tables.
· To cue actors to start the show and operate the Q-Lab system for basic technical cues. Training will be given.
· To be knowledgeable in the Brainiac brand, merchandise on sale and general Bluewater information.
· To sell merchandise and practice upselling for maximum profitability.
· To assist the Brainiac Presenters within the show with audience management and hands-on assistance.
· To work closely with hosting venue’s ground staff to create a productive working relationship.
· To remain vigilant around show sets and props and ensure their security throughout the show days.
· To maintain site cleanliness and safety through operational vigilance.
· To be an ambassador for the Brainiac brand.
· To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required by the On-Site Company Manager or the Brainiac Presenters.
Person Specification:
· Experience or a strong interest of working in a venue, hospitality, festival or customer experience operation.
· Excellent timekeeping organisation skills.
· Outstanding attention to detail.
· Retail and cash handling experience desirable; comfortable working with IT.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to interact clearly and confidently with a diverse range of people.
· Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
· Willingness to work flexibly.
· Comfortable working around children.
· A fun team player.
· A current First Aid at Work certificate is desirable.
· A current valid DBS certificate is desirable.
· An interest in the Arts and live performance.
· A fabulous sense of humour
