Christadelphian Care Homes exists mainly, although not exclusively, to care for members of the Christadelphian Faith. We operate a number of Care Homes and Sheltered Housing schemes throughout the UK and are able to deliver care tailored to individual needs from low support through to residential, nursing and specialised care, including dementia. At our site in Acocks Green, we have an opening for a Maintenance Team Member on a full time basis. You will work as part of a team that are responsible for the overall presentation and upkeep of our large site and will help to create an environment that is safe and enjoyable for all. You’ll carry out a variety of maintenance jobs with minimal supervision ensuring compliance in all areas. The work is varied and of a practical and hands-on nature and will involve working on numerous projects at one time. You’ll be a valuable member of our friendly, close-knit team, and will directly assist with the promotion of the well-being of the residents and the successful running of the home.
Some of your tasks will include:
- Carrying out and responsible for inspections that will identify repairs or maintenance requiring attention
- Decorating and redecorating as directed
- Involvement in small – medium size projects (new bathrooms, kitchens etc.)
- Adhoc repairs as required, ensuring a safe and comfortable living space
To be successful in this role you will need experience and knowledge of the following:
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude with an expert eye for detail
- The ability to offer and implement new ideas both inside and outside the home
- A basic understanding or experience in general building works including carpentry, plumbing, electrical
- A good understanding of the Health and Safety principles.
- Experience with working in the elderly independent living environment.
- Previous experience of carrying out repairs
- Good record keeping
- The ability to work independently
- Good communication skills at all levels.
Due to the nature of this role, the position is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check
