Machine Operators keep our state of the art machinery running at the highest productivity rates and manage the programming for packaging film printing. Be part of the crew who makes sure our machines are happily working away as they should be!
Our ideal candidate will:
- Have previous relatable experience working with machinery / within a production environment
- Genuine interest in mechanics (even if no experience)
- Be technology savvy

Whilst we have 40 different nationalities on our workforce, welcome applications from all, and can support with some language translation, a good understanding of English is important for this role.
The role involves
~ monitoring machine performance
~ selecting operational programmes
~ managing packaging films
~ setting up the print runs for individual orders
~ fault and technical issue raising
~ checking the print and seals on finished packaging
~ administration and paperwork relating to our machinery
~ legal compliance, such as product check sheets and food safety

Training for new starts including
* Food Safety Level 2, GMP training, Integrity & Segregation, HSE Policy, Manual Handling
* Other specific training and support on the job
* There is also the opportunity to request or be nominated for other training, provided by the Kettle Produce Academy

Many people come in at Machine Operative level who have a genuine interest in mechanics and related areas of the production world. Next step is Machine Controller. This in turn can lead to Technician roles, or even an opportunity to join the Engineering team.

Essentials to Consider
<> How will you get to site for a 06.30am start on week days, 7am at weekends? The latest finish time is 10pm. Please consider this before applying if you will be relying on public transport.
<> Is a 2 week rotating shift pattern suitable for you?
<> Can you prove your right to work in the UK? We will ask for original documentation. Passport or birth certificate and official proof of National Insurance Number. If you do not have these documents, we would not be able to offer you a start date. Birth Certificates and NI proof can easily be applied for, so we would ask you do this before sending in your application.
<> Non-UK Residents will be asked to supply their Home Office Share Code prior to being invited to interview.
<> We are a 364 days a year company, closed only on Christmas Day. During December and early January there are restrictions on holidays, and we work bank holidays including Boxing Day.
We are unable at the present time to offer shifts suitable for students with any restricted working hours during term time (usually 20 hours).
The Recruitment Process
We invite shortlisted candidates to an onsite interview with a member of our production management team. This is a chance to tell you about Kettle and the role, and for us to get to know you and see how your experience and skills could bring value to our team. You will then get the chance to tour our factory to see for yourself what goes on in the big green shed!
If we mutually agree it is the right role for you, you will be contacted regarding a start date, and we will set up your induction plan.
