Summary

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software and supporting systems for Motor-CAD, a multiphysics electric motor simulation tool utilizing complex FEA and analytical methods. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals and use technical and problem-solving skills to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives.


As a graduate with a good degree in engineering / physics, you will join a growing and dynamic team to develop class-leading software. You will be a self-starter, responsible for managing your own tasks and working collaboratively. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
  • Understand and employ best practices
  • Perform moderately complex bug verification and resolution, release testing and beta support for Motor-CAD
  • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions using a combination of software engineering skills and understanding of physical principles
  • Understand the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Work under the general supervision of a development manager


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Physics, Maths, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (2:1 or above) with 2 years of experience, or MS/PhD with no experience
  • Experience of software development and/or computational numerical analysis
  • Passion for creating high-quality software solutions to multiphysics problems


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of Python, C++ or other object-oriented language
  • Experience of software development processes including version control, code review techniques and automated testing
  • Strong aptitude in Physics and Mathematics
  • Good attention to detail and ability to manage complexity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
