Job description
Permanent, Full time
Required for September 2023
The Loughborough Schools Foundation Computer Science department seeks to employ a teacher to take up this post in September 2023. The successful candidate will be required to deliver (as a minimum) KS3 and KS4 Computer Science across one or more of the secondary schools in the Foundation. KS5 teaching experience is not essential but is desirable.
Above all, we seek someone who is passionate about their subject, can deliver the subject with confidence and has high expectations for the children that they teach. An enthusiasm for developing the subject beyond the classroom through trips and extracurricular activities is also desirable. The department places high value on continuing professional development and encourages colleagues to keep abreast of subject change.
The programming language taught across the Foundation is Python and it is expected the successful candidate will be a competent programmer.
The Computer Science department has expanded rapidly since 2019 and is highly regarded by all schools in the Foundation. There has been a significant growth in the number of students studying the subject at GCSE, and this is now continuing into A-Level. All students in KS3 have one hour of Computer Science per week at each of the secondary schools.
Promotion of the values of each school is integral to the role, and it is essential that the successful candidate is a good role model for the boys and girls they teach.
In return we offer a permanent, full-time role with a competitive salary. You will benefit from a generous school fee discount for your children. Free parking, free school lunch and private medical insurance.
The Loughborough Schools Foundation is a charitable foundation of four independent schools in the heart of Loughborough, educating children from 3 to 18 years, as well as a nursery. The schools enjoy a very high reputation for their academic, cultural, and sporting achievements and for the quality of their pastoral care. The schools are situated on the south side of Loughborough on a very pleasant campus.
