Reports to: London Programme Lead (Club)
Hours: Match days Sundays with various kick off times
Location: Peckham and Dulwich area (focused in Southwark, London)
Salary: £40 per 9 or 11 aside match and £30 for 5 or 7 aside (if FA qualified)
£30 per 9 or 11 aside match and £20 for 5 or 7 aside (if non-FA qualified)
Description: The position of the London Club Referee consists of officiating our League matches from our U10-U16 girls teams. We currently compete in the Tandridge Girls divisions and will be focusing on our 9- and 11-a-side matches with the option to support our 7-a-side matches. The position will include practical delivery and officiating on a match day and will support our wider workforce of coaches and London team.
London Referee (Club) will be responsible for (but not limited to);
- attending the agreed fixtures in advance with the London Club Lead.
- overseeing the role of assistant referees (provided by home and away teams) for 9- and 11-a-side formats.
- building rapport and trust with players, attendees and young people to ensure they continue to engage with Girls United through their programmes. The aim will be to support our community to develop on and off the pitch through the power of football.
- working collaboratively with other team members including but not exclusive to; volunteers, sessional staff and contracted staff within Girls United London.
- supporting in creating and maintaining a positive relationship with community groups and partner organisations (such as venues) to deliver these fixtures.
Essential and Desirable Qualities and Qualifications:
- Experiences - Someone who has experience with working and refereeing in grassroots football and with young women and girls (E).
- Qualifications - FA Referee Course (D) or applicant willing to achieve this (E).
- Experience of league affiliated football and understand roles and responsibilities to officiate a league match (E).
- Communication - someone who is confident to speak and build positive rapport with various people within the community. For example but not exclusive to players, parents, venues, schools, and funders etc. (E)
- Organisational skills - someone who is able to manage their time effectively and ensure they are punctual in completing their administration tasks alongside attending sessions and other in-person activities. (E)
Application Process:

- A 30-minute phone interview with the London Staff Member.
- Practical interview which will consist of a pre-set task and a coaching session. This will help us to assign your skillset to the most suitable officiating level within Girl United but also matching you to the most appropriate age groups.
- Final conversation to address any remaining questions and ensure the compatibility of the candidate with the organisation.
