Established in 1990, Portsmouth is one of our newer locations with a workforce of circa 200 employees. The site is a leading technology provider for the aerospace, marine and military markets supplying an extensive range of specialist fuel tanks and flotation systems, as well as engineering expertise and support for fixed and rotary wing aircrafts, land vehicles, missiles, UAVs, torpedoes and marine vessels. Our customer base includes Airbus, BAE Systems, Bell, Boeing, General Automics, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Saab, MOD.
Job Summary
As the Logistics Coordinator you’ll join the Supply Chain Team and reporting to the Despatch Team Leader. You’ll be mainly responsible for Despatch Administration and this will include the creation and administration of shipping documents and ensuring the department has a consistent flow of materials to avoid delays in customer demand. You’ll be the interface between our customers, transport companies and GKN stakeholders and assisting with the daily despatch operations.
This will include:
- Producing export documents
- Producing shipment invoices
- Maintaining internal shipment trackers
- Booking UK & International transport via courier portals i.e. FedEx, TNT
- Send shipping documents for customer collections using an email process
- Archiving Proof of Collection and Proof of Delivery notes
- Ensuring shipment traceability is kept to a high standard
- Ordering consumables for the despatch department in the correct lead times
- Providing other duties as required by the Supply Chain operation
How You'll Contribute
To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience working within a Logistics OR Supply Chain administration role
- Knowledge of transport procedures to ensure accurate transit times
- An understanding of documents required for exporting goods
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Office suite
- High level of organisational skills
Desirable:
- Experience working within a Despatch environment
- Knowledge of Import and Export processes
- Experience working within an manufacturing environment
- Experience of SAP or other ERP system
- Knowledge of commodity/tariff codes
- Previous experience using Excel trackers
- Use of Material Handling Equipment experience, such as FLT licence or similar
- A passion for working within the Aerospace industry

Please note the working hours for this role are 7.30am till 4.15pm Monday to Friday with every second Friday a non-working day ‘Free Friday’.
