Role overview:
With safety, quality, efficiency and customer service as a priority the Logistics Coordinator within Foam Plant, Sunderland, will be a critical part of the business. Using your existing logistics knowledge, you will facilitate the receiving, moving and shipping of supplies, stock, materials and products. Critically, you will manage the flow of orders requiring strong reliance on monitoring and co-ordination of delivery pickup and/or drop off schedules both manually and with computer programs. You will already possess a good understanding of Logistics procedures and have the ability to effectively communicate with other departments. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and competent knowledge of MS Office especially MS Excel.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure all company policies surrounding stock, health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met
- Fully accountable for achieving all relevant KPIs
- Maintain the up-to-date visual management whiteboard
- Adhere to shipping/receiving and regulatory-compliance procedures
- Comply with laws, regulations and standards
- Complete documentation such as pick lists, bills of lading, work orders and shipping orders using computer-based technology
- Plan and co-ordinate transportation of materials and manage the timely flow of customer orders and with focus on accuracy, efficiency and time management.
- Ensure stock value meets set month end financial target.
- Ensure stock levels are reviewed daily and meet min max targets.
- 100% on time supplier deliveries.
- Support with Material Manager tasks if he/she is not on site.
- Achieve zero premium freight.
- Achieve 95% stock accuracy.
- 100% completion of cycle count plan.
- Complete MRP run weekly ensuring zero scheduling issues.
- Ensure BOM’s are up to date and accurate.
- 100% LJS accuracy to ensure zero Production downtime.
- Positively react and realign supplier delivery plans if customer demand changes.
- Provide and maintain good customer service and solve problems
- Address order flow or shipping delays and quality control issues, such as damaged or improperly packed goods
- Complete daily shipping and receiving logs
- Dispatch freight for delivery and arrange for pickups
- Record shipment data such as weight, charges and damages
- Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue shipping instructions and delivery of materials
- Rectify problems such as damages, shortages and non-conformance to specifications
- Document and escalate any customer service issues and/or shipping/receiving errors
- Assist with training of new employees
- Complete safety reports in relation to health and safety issues
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with those on your team, as well as cross-functionally
- Travel as and when required
- Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager
Key skills and Qualifications:
- HND in a relevant business qualification or equivalent
- Working knowledge of a logistics environment
- Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Able to work with tight deadlines
- Be quick to identify critical information and respond appropriately
- Able to apportion time effectively to complete tasks
- Will be energised by challenges and drawn towards opportunities
- Confident and professional when representing the company in person and in writing
