We are offering an exciting opportunity to join FIS for 10 weeks in our Manchester office during this summer! You will be part of our FIS University – Summer Internship Program, where you will gain real work experience and participate in team projects, social events, and professional development seminars!
About the hiring team
The Business Controllership team is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting of all revenues, across all payment platforms for the Worldpay International business. This process starts by closing out the month end results, performing detailed balance sheet and P&L reconciliations, producing analytical reporting, and ensuring that all remediations and escalations are communicated to the relevant teams around the business. The team covers a broad scope of activities, such as quarterly reporting and board packs, SOX controls, statutory audits, settlement accounting, operational month end and business partnering.
What you will be doing
Collaborating with a diverse team, you will be responsible for preparing and/ or recording general ledger journal entries, conducting account reconciliations and various analysis of the financial statements.
- Use financial data to prepare and/or record general ledger journal entries
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
- Analyse financial statements and provide concise explanations for variances
- Research period over period variances in revenue, cost of sales and expense and provide logical explanations for fluctuation
- Assist internal clients by providing information required

Who we are looking for
- You are in your penultimate year of an undergraduate degree, or in your final year of an undergraduate degree with a one-year postgraduate place confirmed
- You demonstrate an eagerness to learn new things!
- Good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), listening and rapport building skills
- Confident, with a proactive mindset, and willingness to ask questions and put forward ideas
- You are organised, with good time management skills and an ability to multi-task
- You have a genuine interest in the fast-evolving payments industry!
