Logistics Coordinator
The Logistics Coordinator must always be thinking, planning, make sound decisions and be a problem solver. In addition, they must have the capability to work within a team environment, take pride in the quality of their work and follow directions.
Primary Duties
- Coordinate all inbound and all outbound shipment activity
- Quoting freight options
- Determine means of transportation (air/road/rail/ocean) and secure with carrier or freight forwarder
- Accurately complete all paperwork for shipments as required (courier bills, customs papers, USMCA etc.)
- Mitigate additional charges and assist with maintaining the accuracy of carrier information
- Tracking of shipments, following throughout the duration and communicating with the internal customers, both positive and negative occurrences as required.
- Troubleshooting and solving freight and customs issues/delays
- Manage relationships with key contacts with our carriers, couriers, customs broker and to some extent vendors
- Analyzing and optimizing logistics processes
- Preparation and issuing of reports to management
- Additional duties may be assigned as required.
Qualifications
- 3+ years-experience in a similar role
- Post secondary education specializing in logistics or supply chain management is an asset
- Proven experienced in international shipping, Canadian and Cross border FTL, LTL markets
- Strong understanding of all shipping modes and proven knowledge of the required customs documentation
- A mid to upper level working knowledge of: Office 365 products, including the ability to create and work with advanced calculations in Excel
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to plan, organize, multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- High Initiative, self-motivation, reliable and strong leadership qualities
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with customers, vendors, teammates and visitors
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs., walk and/or stand for long periods
- Able to work if required in a hot, humid environment
- Capable of properly wearing a respirator and other applicable safety equipment, as required
- Complete a pre-employment medical and/or pulmonary testing etc.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to drive a forklift is considered an asset
- Provide professional references
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $50,000.00-$64,000.00 per year
