Duties

This position is located within the DHS Management Directorate (MGMT), Office of the Chief Readiness Support Officer (OCRSO), Asset and Logistics Division (A&L). OCRSO has Departmental responsibility and oversight for real property, personal property, logistics, mobile assets, fleet, and sustainability and environmental management. The purpose of this position is to analyze various logistics-related data, performing data extracts, and generating reports.

Typical assignments for these positions include:

  • Collaborating with program stakeholders and systems development team in the process of defining user needs, documenting user stories, and evaluating test scenarios.

  • Organizing and facilitating requirements and data governance meetings across numerous stakeholders, such as policy owners and system users.

  • Reviewing and evaluating complex data systems related to mission support and unity of effort costs, efficiencies and volume.

  • Assisting in the replication and auditing of quantitative analyses of asset and logistical data and providing recommendations to senior staff based on findings.

  • Conducting analysis of enterprise-wide logistics data associated to the business functions affiliated with the authorities of the DHS Chief Readiness Support Officer.

  • Developing and conducting user training to support various logistics processes and applications, to include writing, publishing, and revising training curriculum and instructional materials.

  • Developing graphic representations of statistical data and various reports. Coordinates the verification and validation of generated reports with impacted Departmental and Component stakeholders.

You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level performing: 1) Utilizing visual applications and analytical software tools to evaluate service performance, economic, and/or financial data; 2) Designing and/or applying mathematical methods and techniques to model statistical processes and economic and cost attribution concepts; 3) Identifying logistics integration opportunities and efficiencies across applications and data sets; 4) Strategically assessing supply chain activities for risks and potential improvements; and 5) Developing graphic representations of statistical data and reports to present information to decision makers.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps and AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, and social). The first assessment will consist of skilled-based questions designed to evaluate the degree to which you possess the skills needed to perform the duties of the positions being filled. The second assessment is the Performance Assessment Network System (PANS) which is a predictive assessment that measures your cognitive ability and soft skills. This assessment may take more than an hour and a half to complete; portions are timed; and may include videos. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary in nature; however, some physical exertion will be required in the accomplishment of visits to off-site facilities.

Work Environment: The work is normally performed in a typical office environment. Some travel to organizational Components may be required and may include inspections of the Department’s portfolio of assets, including office buildings, warehouses, special purpose trainings, and laboratory type space.

Re-employed annuitants’ annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases.
