Professional Indemnity Solicitor

  • Permanent, full-time
  • Hybrid working, with travel to our office approx. 2+ days a week

DWF Law LLP is seeking to recruit an NQ Solicitor to join the Professional Liability team in our Glasgow office.

The Professional Indemnity team require a Solicitor to join their team in Glasgow. The role will involve working in a team environment advising insurers and/or professionals in respect of claims made against a wide range of professionals (including but not limited to solicitors, accountants, financial advisers, insurance brokers and barristers) and will embrace policy coverage advice, all forms of dispute resolution and assistance with disciplinary proceedings.

Experience required:

  • Ideally we are seeking someone with an insurance background (professional indemnity, or commercial), but we would also consider individuals with a litigation background and a willingness to learn.
  • We can consider a non-England & Wales qualified lawyer if they either come from a similar jurisdiction or have E&W (preferably insurance) litigation experience.

Main Duties:

  • Understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice.
  • Analyse risk and further develop sound judgement enabling the justification of decisions to clients internally and externally.
  • Prioritise work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices.
  • Understand individual role in the context of the practice group and pro-actively seek to contribute to increased efficiency in developing a case load appropriate to level of technical, legal knowledge.
  • Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s direction and client needs.
  • Develop increased levels of technical and commercial knowledge via training or supervised working practices.
  • Achieve time recording targets split between chargeable and investment time in any one financial year.
  • Achieve individual financial targets in line with sales plan.
