- In the directorate of Housing and Safer Communities, the Housing Information Technology Team (Housing IT) works to recommend, implement and support the technologies that underpin the services which we deliver to our residents and colleagues.
- As part of Housing IT and working closely alongside the Housing Income teams, the Accounts Officers play a vital role in supporting the financial and accounting processes for collection of rent and other chargeable services.
The role
- You’ll be responsible for the administration of rent and other associated Housing accounts. In your day-to-day, you’ll carry out a wide and varied range of administrative tasks, processing payments, account adjustments, refunds, reconciliations, charges and more.
- You’ll champion the interests of the council and our residents. You’ll ensure that residents are fairly and duly charged for the services that they receive while promoting accountability in Royal Greenwich, working to deliver accounting processes which are considerate, timely and accurate.
- As a member of the wider Housing IT Team, you’ll provide essential system administration to ensure that our business systems are operational, up-to-date and meeting the expectations of our colleagues and residents.
- You’ll contribute to specific projects in an ambitious programme of transformation, focusing on the implementation of new tools and processes which improve the way we deliver our accounting services.
- You’ll become a proficient user of our reporting tools to provide accurate and timely management information that will support and inform the delivery of our services.
Who you are
We want to hear from people with the following skills and experience:
- Experience of working in a formal accounting / finance environment.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to tailor your communications to the target audience, whether residents or colleagues.
- A working knowledge of GDPR and the procedures / controls relevant to the management of sensitive personal and financial information.
- Administration skills, preferably with a focus on accounting systems and reporting tools.
- The ability to enter, manipulate and reconcile data accurately – particularly financial data.
