LIVE IN GARDENERHAMPSHIREJob OverviewThe appointed person will be responsible for the maintenance and care of the gardens, lawns and surroundings of the property, in conjunction with the Estate Team. TheEstate is a total of 150 acres, this include 5 acres of garden and the remaining land is paddocks, woodland, parkland meadows and arable land.Job SpecificationHorticultureCultivation of borders, walled garden and pots.Ordering and planting of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees as appropriate.Order plant supplies (fertiliser, pesticides etc) as required.Growing and harvesting of vegetables, fruit and herbs from seeds.Cultivation of orchard, harvesting of vegetables and fruits.Liaising with and supervising tree surgeons.Maintaining and clipping hedges and shrubs.Cultivation of lawns and parkland meadows, keeping clean of dog manure.Lawn care to include fertilising, scarifying, aerating, rolling, mowing and edging.Garden irrigation and watering of trees.Management of compost.Leaf management.Watering on weekends may be required.Any other jobs as reasonably requested.Grounds and field careClearing and spraying areas of weed infestation including brambles, nettles, docks and thistles.Spraying fields and banks.Maintaining driveway and paths (gravel, grass and stone).Pasture management with the help of, and as directed by, the Yard Manager.Maintaining and clipping hedges.Leaf management.Application of organic matter and fertilizer.General Team DutiesAccepting deliveries.Answering gate with phone app.Shared keyholder and security services, including cctv app.Bins and recycling.Dog sitting in the absence of the Housekeeper.Skills requiredGood organisation and planning of workload with attention to details.Team player, good relations with other people and good communicator.Discrete, kind, helpful, reliable and practicable.To operate within and abide by appropriate Health and safety legislation and endorse good safe working practices and policies as required including specialist advice.As and when required, assistants will be provided and may have to be supervised by theGardener.General NoteThe estate has a comprehensive equestrian yard - this is under the control of the YardManager. The works on the estate must always have due care to the equines both whilst stabled and grazing in various fields and paddocks around the property.QualificationsRelevant Horticultural Qualifications and previous experience of similar role is essential.Full driving licence.Practical experience with tractors and their attachments.NPTC PA1PA6 Knapsack spraying (desirable) will be trained if not.NTPC Brush cutting / Clearing saw (desirable) will be trained if not.NTPC Level 2 Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting (desirable) will be trained if not.The successful applicant will be required to obtain necessary certificates and training to operate machinery as required.Terms and conditionsThe position is for a live in Gardener.The job comes with a modern one bedroom unfurnished flat; the costs of maintenance, heating and electric are met by the owners.The successful applicant must show care to the fabric and fittings.Working Hours42 hours per week, seasonally variable, Monday to Friday, some ad hoc weekend cover may be required.Salary negotiable and dependent on experience, reviewed on annual basis.The employee is entitled to 20 days holiday plus 8 public holidays.Position reports directly to the owners and or their agent.Probation period is six months, with a notice period of two weeks.
