If you are looking to move your career ahead within Unix & Linux Administration and DevOps then Santander UK Linux team could be the choice for you.
Your role will be VCS, Unix & Linux administration & support in a complex high availability environment, including implementation, production support, performance monitoring and tuning, disaster recovery, upgrades, patching, migration within a virtualised environment and project work.
The Linux Administrators liaise with Santander colleagues to support all aspects of the VCS, Unix & Linux server infrastructure across the bank. We strive to use tools to automate tasks wherever possible.

- Installing patch, upgrade and configure VCS on Unix & Linux Servers.
- Providing Technical Support and Guidance.
- Performing System Maintenance.
- Monitoring System Performance.
- Modifying settings and configurations of virtual systems.
- Providing fast and effective BAU support for incidents and requests.
- Performing problem identification and root cause analysis.
What you’ll bring.
- Strong knowledge of RHEL6, RHEL7 & RHEL8 in large scale data centre environments.
- Experience with the operation of a large VMware infrastructure.
- Experience of patching Linux servers to remediate vulnerabilities.
- Proficient with Ansible, shell scripting and Automation tools.
- Migration, upgrade and rebuild of legacy Linux Servers from RHEL6 & RHEL7 to RHEL8.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
It would also be nice for you to have.
- Previous exposure migrating VCS clusters e.g., VCS upgrade, host-based migrations and array-based migrations.
- Administration of Solaris, AIX and VCS.
- RHCSA / RHCE certified.
- Development tools such as Git and Gitlab.
What else you need to know.
Normally working 8 hours a day between 09:00 to 17:00 GMT (Monday to Friday) with one hour for lunch.
Providing On Call support up to a couple of times per quarter.
Out of hours project support for changes typically starting after 18:00 GMT or later (may include OS patching, vulnerability remediation and VCS patching)
