Propel are currently working with a market leader among global exchange operators with expertise to drive the global marketplace forward through product innovation and trading solutions and they are looking for a Linux System Engineer to join their expanding team in London.Job Description
The successful candidate will be a member of the London infrastructure team that is responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting Linux and storage systems.The primary responsibility is for London based systems; however, the role is also part a global Linux team and will work very closely with US colleagues to ensure all work is done in a globally consistent manner
Responsibilities:
- All operational duties both first and second line including working shift hours between 7am-6pm
- All systems administration tasks on the Linux estate
- Hardware administration of Linux servers
- Administer storage solutions for both production, archive and corporate systems
- Administer, maintain and enhance monitoring & management tools
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of Linux, particularly RHEL
- Experience of working practices required for a mission critical, zero downtime environment
- Good knowledge of server hardware
- Strong scripting skills with the ability to automate monitoring and management
- Experience of configuration management (Salt build RPMs, deploy updates)
- Experience with performance management tools
- Highly methodical and analytical approach to problem solving
- Dedication to quality and attention to detail
- Team player, builds positive relationships at all levels both locally and globally
- Able to work remotely for support and change implementation
Desirable:
- Advanced knowledge of SAN storage systems
- Experience with virtualisation technology
- Good networking and security competence
