Practice Nurse
West London
up to £42,000
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Practice Nurse to join our our client’s team in West London. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the overall healthcare services at the practice.
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of clinical duties, including wound care, ECGs, venepuncture, new patient medicals, chaperone procedures, pathology test requests, and advising patients based on test results. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing various chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and CHD, as well as administering routine, childhood, and travel immunisations. Your expertise in women's health, including cervical cytology and contraception, will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform wound care, removal of sutures & staples, and other clinical procedures with precision and proficiency.
- Conduct ECGs and venepuncture procedures accurately, ensuring patients' comfort and safety.
- Conduct new patient medical assessments to gather relevant medical history and address any immediate health concerns.
- Act as a chaperone during procedures, ensuring patient dignity and privacy are maintained.
- Request pathology tests, process the results, and communicate findings to patients while providing appropriate advice and recommendations.
- Demonstrate expertise in travel medicine to offer comprehensive advice and vaccinations to patients planning international travel.
- Manage patients with chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and CHD, providing ongoing care, education, and support.
- Administer routine, childhood, and travel immunisations following established protocols and guidelines.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of evidence-based practice and implement it in daily clinical decision-making.
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge of clinical governance principles, adhering to relevant policies and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical notes, ensuring the patient's medical record is up-to-date and accessible to other healthcare professionals.
- Work collaboratively within your scope of practice and promptly refer patients to GPs or specialists when necessary.
- Comply with the requirements for Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and associated policies.
This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours a week from Monday to Friday with an occasional Saturday morning. The salary for this position goes up to £42,000 and our client has a commitment to ongoing training and development.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
