Library Assistant
Fixed Term Term-time (Maternity Cover) May - December 2023
Full Time or Part Time hours Considered
Salary: £21,000 - £23,000 FTE plus a competitive benefits package
42.5 hours per week term-time - 8am – 5:30pm Mon-Fri (pro-rata salary £18,901- £20,701)
Part Time (Job Share)–up to 22 hours per week term-time (pro-rata salary £9,784 - £10,716)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated Library Assistant to join us working in our vibrant and very popular library at King Edward VI School. The main duties are to assist the Library Manager in promoting and developing the school library to provide an efficient service to pupils and staff; and to support our range of reading for pleasure initiatives. The library is truly at the heart of our school; extremely busy, modern and loved by our students as a welcoming social space and a key part of our communities’ wellbeing focus.
We are looking for organised and creative individual/s with excellent oral and written communication skills. You will have excellent customer service skills and be patient and calm under pressure. Experience of working in a library or in a school or education setting and/or a good knowledge of children’s and teen literature would be an advantage. Key requirements also include an ability to empathise and relate positively to young people and have a genuine interest in supporting them to succeed.
