An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic hard working Specialist Practitioner to join the safeguarding team within Essex Partnership University Trust (EPUT). You will be responsible for providing safeguarding Specialist Mental Health and Community support to staff across EPUT in mental health and Community Services including Specialist Children services. EPUT provides services across Essex, Suffolk and Bedfordshire. This will include the provision of training and providing supervision to practitioners who are managing safeguarding cases or working with service users who are vulnerable.
You must hold a professional qualification in one of the following areas: Registered Nurse, RMN RSCN, Diploma in Social work or Registered Health Professional. You will be Educated to degree level (or working towards) in a health or social care related subject or equivalent with a good knowledge of Children and Young People’s and Adult legislation and have experience of delivering supervision and training.
Experience of working within a mental health Trust would be desirable and the ability to demonstrate a Think Family approach to delivering safeguarding is essential as the team adopt an integrated approach. Working in partnership with all agencies you will be part of a team that promotes the welfare of adults and children both internal and external to EPUT and supports the Trust in meeting its public protection responsibilities.

What is Staff Bank?
Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

You will be required to be responsible for the identification and management of safeguarding concerns by leadership, expert practice, research and education. The post holder will do this by being part of the existing safeguarding team and implementing strategies, protocols, pathways and action plans to strengthen the management of safeguarding services. There will be a focus on robust risk management systems to ensure safe, efficient, effective and timely management of the safeguarding agenda. They will initiate and add to research evidence in the field of safeguarding to ensure that evidence based practice is inherent in all aspects of care.
The role requires a level of legal literacy of all Acts and law that interface with the safeguarding agenda and will include oversight of all aspects of the Safeguarding Agenda including Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Adults, Prevent, Honour Based Abuse including FGM and Forced Marriage, Domestic Abuse, MARAC & Modern Slavery and the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. There will be a requirement for the post holder to be conversant with The Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards to advise the Trust staff on these matters as the need arises.
