We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, outgoing person to join our team at Melksham Library working 14 hours per week to help provide a high-quality service to our customers.
About the role
As Library Assistant, you will help customers with queries, help them to find books and information and support them with basic IT for those using library computers and other library equipment. You will take part in children’s activities such as 'rhyme time' and events/activities for adults, help with shelving, recommending reading choices, tidying the library, answering the phone and many more tasks are part of this role.
No two days will be the same and you’ll need to be ready to deal with the unexpected!
Work pattern for this role is:
Week 1: Tuesday 10:00-17:00 and Thursday 10:00-14:00
Week 2: Tuesday 10:00-17:00, Thursday 10:00-14:00, Fri 10:00-14:00 and Saturday 09.30-13:30
About you
We will look to you to possess at least five GCSEs, including English at grade A-C or equivalent. Previous library experience is not essential as we will train you in all aspects of library work.
Interviews will be held on Monday 19th June 2023.
Interviews can be held both virtually on Microsoft Teams and in person, if your interview is virtual, candidates will be sent a link before the interview to download the Teams App. All current public health advice is followed for candidate and employee safety.
