Job description
We are seeking to appoint a Library Assistant. This role will be based in the School’s busy Information Centre library facilities across our School sites. An enthusiastic and energetic person with a passion for books, reading and pupil literacy is required.
Alongside working with pupils, the successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support to the Learning Resource Manager/Alumni Development Officer and teaching staff.
The role will involve setting up and maintaining learning resources. Furthermore, it will require supporting whole school literacy and reading initiatives. The candidate will need to be confident in assisting with behaviour management of pupils in the Information Centres. Please note that you will be working with both Secondary and Sixth Form aged pupils.
You will also be required to recommend books to pupils and assist teachers in the delivery of lessons in the library. In addition to the above, it will also be necessary to have the following skills and experience:
good levels of literacy and numeracy;- enthusiasm for reading and promoting pupil literacy;
- a variety of communication skills to respond to the needs of staff and pupils;
- good behaviour management skills;
- flexibility, patience and a calm manner.
