Job description
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic library assistant to work at our busy Central Library. This is a part time role, for 17 hours per week, pro rata. It will include working every Saturday and an alternate late night in the week. Please see the document attached for the working pattern. The post is a front of house role with direct contact with customers using the library. You will be floorwalking, making sure that stock is returned to the shelves in an appropriate manner. You will also assist customers using IT facilities. The post holder will ensure that they apply high standards of customer service in all dealings with the public.
Role Responsibilities- Undertake counter and enquiry desk duties.
- Undertake administrative routines as required.
- Participate in training and supervision of library volunteers.
- Able to work with groups of children and deliver story times.

- GCSE maths and English A-C grade or relevant experience to demonstrate adequate levels of literacy and numeracy.
- ECDL: or equivalent IT skills by relevant experience.
- Experience in customer care service in private or public sector.
- Good communication skills for customers and staff.
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm and helpful manner.
