Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a highly motivated Library Assistant Apprentice to join the Trust Staff Library team. The Trust Staff Library team provides information and library services to all Trust staff and students.
You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience. As part of this role you will be enrolled into a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship where you will receive off-the-job training for a minimum of 20% of the time you are paid to work for the duration of the programme which takes 15 months to complete.
As Library Assistant Apprentice, you will be the frontline support for the library circulation and enquiry service, assisting customers with a range of library and resource queries across different mediums, ensuring that high quality services are provided. You will be reliable and enthusiastic, self-motivated, comfortable working on your own and possess excellent customer care, administration and communication skills. A good level of general education, and the ability to prioritise and manage workload, meet tight deadlines and use your own initiative when working unsupervised are also key skills required within the role.
The position will be based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead.
The main duties of the role include ensuring the day-to-day administration of the library, processing inter-library loans and new stock, supporting the collection of statistical information, maintaining library systems and databases, creating and maintaining standard operating procedures, and supporting customers in the use of library resources.
