JOB TITLE: Homelink Handyperson
Salary range £24,799 - £33,087 with a flexible benefit range of £1,783 - £1,881 per annum.
The Team
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to deliver an essential service within the Homelink team, the Council’s in-house Home Improvement Agency to extend the services offered to residents living in the borough of Woking with help to live independently at home.
Working mainly with older people, people with a disability and vulnerable families the following position will be part of a successful and busy team which helps to organise access to support services and building work (major and minor repairs or adaptations) so that people can maintain their independence at home in reasonable security and comfort.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding role, and the main purpose of the job is to carry out minor repairs, adaptations and small jobs for older and vulnerable people. This can range from fitting additional handrails on staircases, repairing doors, fitting smoke detectors and key safes through to moving furniture and hanging curtains where residents are unable to do this themselves.
Knowledge of health and safety is essential whilst a qualification in electrics, plumbing and carpentry would be a distinct advantage. The job can involve some lifting.
A commitment to delivering high quality customer care, working as part of a team, being flexible, as well as the ability to empathise with older and vulnerable people are essential. You should also possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have the ability to deliver excellent results working under pressure.
The role is covering the North West Surrey area, covering 4 boroughs.

As this job involves contact with vulnerable adults, successful applicants will be required to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate. Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.
