This is a permanent full-time appointment
We are seeking to recruit a full time Library Assistant to join the Collections and Academic Services Group, working with both the Acquisitions and Subscriptions teams. There will be an equal division of duties, dependent on when demands for the services provided by each team are in higher demand, associated with the teaching, learning, and research cycles throughout the academic year.
The Acquisitions team is responsible for book acquisitions (both print and ebooks), provision of course content including scanned readings and the management of reading list data, Interlending & Document Delivery (IDD), and the ‘Get it For Me’ (GIFM) request service.
In supporting the Subscriptions team, you will be responsible for updating ejournal records on the Library Management System and checking in and claiming print subscriptions. You will process invoices, scan and file licences and respond to emails from suppliers, as well as collect and collate usage statistics for electronic resources.
Candidates should have a good general standard of education, be numerate and literate (e.g. GCSE passes in Maths and English or equivalent), and be able to communicate well with a wide range of people and to convey information clearly and appropriately. They must have the ability to demonstrate a professional approach to Library users/customers and to deliver a consistent, effective service. They should be self-motivated and have the ability to organise their own workload. Previous experience of acquisitions and/or subscriptions work in a higher education or research library is desirable, and knowledge of Ex Libris Alma (including Leganto and RapidILL) or similar products would be an advantage.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
We are happy to discuss flexible working requests for this role.
