Job description
Library Services
We are seeking a Library and Academic Advisor to join the skills@cumbria team within the Library Services area of the Student Services directorate.
You would be based at our London campus and act as the primary point of contact in this area of work at the campus. The role supports the development of learning, teaching and research through: the development of students’ research and academic and information literacies; close liaison with linked academic teams; the provision of subject library resource services to academic staff including library collection development and electronic reading list creation. Academic literacies development includes designing and delivering synchronous and asynchronous learning materials and sessions (online, individual support and group sessions) across a number of topics: information skills, academic writing practices, referencing and avoiding plagiarism, study skills and digital literacies.
Regardless of campus base, the skills@cumbria team work collaboratively with each other, other professional services and academics to provide an integrated student-centred approach to skills and academic literacies development. Advisors liaise with dedicated programme areas and the postholder would be working particularly closely with Institute of Education courses based at the London campus, including Education Studies, QTS and PGCE courses. There would also be some negotiated support shared with the Academic Literacies Tutor for other courses that currently run at the London campus, such as top up Global Business Management and Health and Social Care.
