When developing all Snag products, we test and trial them on multiple body shapes within our size range from a UK 4 – 38.
Our Product Development team are looking for a confident Junior Garment Technologist to support our Fit & Quality Manager within the PD team on a full-time basis. This is a role that will require an open mind, an entrepreneur mindset, and an enthusiastic approach to fit and quality.
Our team hours vary from 9/9:30 – 5/5:30 with room to be flexible and have flexible work from home days. We require to be in the office especially to be present when parcels arrive, fit sessions, and meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Management of samples being received from the supplier base
- Controlling receipt and distribution of parcels for fitting
- Measuring samples for fitting
- Managing workbooks ahead of and during fit sessions
- Ensuring timely receipt of sampling against the company Critical Path
- Manage sample storage effectively within the office
- Manage parcel receipt and sending for the Technical department
- Attending fit sessions and managing the accurate recording of fit comments and supporting with fit annotations and supplier follow up communications.
- Manage approval of shipment samples, ensuring to maintain agreed fit and quality level against sealed Pre-Production samples.
- Managing the receipt and organisation of certification for compliance and sustainability
- Managing model booking, measuring and organisation of fit sessions
- Manage library of supplier fabrics, trims and components from a Technical perspective
- Assist with and carry out competitor shops and research projects and help to organise and analyse findings. Assist in setting up and monitoring wearer trials with the Fit & Quality Manager.
- Receipt and approvals of AQL reports and follow-up communications with the supplier base
- Receipt and approvals of test reports and follow-up communications with the supplier base
- Creation of care label artwork and communication with the supplier base
- Support in updating internal documents and manuals
- Liaising with Product Development team to ensure a timely completion of tasks and to support where needed
- Clear communication with the supplier base via email and VC
Skills/Experience required:
- Highly organised with great attention to detail
- Accurate measuring skills
- Understanding of garments, patterns, construction of fabrics, seaming and trims
- Fabric knowledge, experience working with jersey, wovens and knitwear
- Experience of reading test reports and certificates
- Experience of working with and maintaining company critical path
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator (basic to intermediate level)
- Good working knowledge of Excel and fit workbooks
- Ability to understand and analyse data
- Great communication skills
- Pro active attitude and desire to learn in a fast paced, flexible environment
- Minimum 2 years’ experience at Assistant or Junior Technologist level
Desirable but not mandatory:
- A working knowledge of fit issues and how to fix these
- Experience of pattern cutting
- Previous experience of independently fitting a product area or multiple product types
- Previous experience working with swimwear and lingerie
- Plus size, Unisex, Menswear experience
- Multi product experience
- Experience managing testing process end to end
- A working knowledge of risk assessment, product safety requirements and industry regulations
- Experience of measuring models
- Experience working with an international supplier base
- Working knowledge of sustainability practises within the garment/fashion industry
