Our Project Controls Professional Apprenticeship is designed to provide individuals the opportunity to gain an Incorporated Cost Engineer (ICostE) qualification whilst understanding and contributing to the delivery of large-scale projects successfully and safely, to time, cost and quality. You will achieve this personal growth and qualifications through a mixture of study and on the job learning.
As a Project Controls Professional, you are the foundation to all Project Management. Working independently and collaboratively, you’ll learn how to excel in high pressured environments and at the end of the apprenticeship, be an accomplished Project Controls Professional, with the ability to influence the delivery of high importance projects.

The scheme will last for 4 years, each year with its own milestones and targets which you will set out to achieve and take the next step towards becoming a qualified Project Controls Professional.
You can be located in: London ,York or Manchester where you will complete hands on structured training across a number of areas in Network Rail and its Supply Chain, giving you the best opportunity to contribute to the business growth as well as enhance your own knowledge and skillset.

What you’ll be doing
Throughout this apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to work on large scale rail and infrastructure projects, contributing to the delivery successfully, safely, on time and within budget. Learning how to have a comprehensive understanding of the components of a project life-cycle including: cost information, estimates, schedules and plans, risk, change, scoping documents, statistics, probabilities, engineering drawings and plans etc. will be a key aspect of this role. This will lead you to understand, through a combination of study and real-world experience, how to provide strategic, authoritative advice and recommendations to the senior decision-making panel in order to keep the project on track.
You will have the opportunity to undertake a planned rotation across multiple departments within Network Rail and potentially the Supply Chain, to help progress your skillset and ultimately career goals with Network Rail. Enduring this, alongside your part time studies, will help you to attain the knowledge, behaviours and competencies, as required by the apprentice standard, to achieve your Incorporated Cost Engineer (ICostE)qualification. We will also provide you with internal training throughout to upskill you in the relevant skills and competencies required for Network Rail.
What you’ll get out of it
Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you will be recognised with the professional qualification level of ICostE (Incorporated Cost Engineer) within ACostE (Association of Cost Engineering), broadly recognised as academic knowledge at bachelor’s level or equivalent.
