Abbott Diabetes Care, Witney (Oxfordshire) has a clear vision for its sensor technology business taking it into high volume manufacture. At ADC Witney, we develop and manufacture a number of technologies used in the management of diabetes, including the next generation sensor technology used in the revolutionary new FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring system. We are expanding and have exciting opportunities for those keen to kick-start a career in engineering.
We are looking for keen, enthusiastic and driven people, wanting to start their career in engineering via an apprenticeship. Successful candidates will start their Advanced Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, in September 2023.
The majority of the first year will be spent offsite at a carefully selected training provider, learning essential engineering skills and techniques including machining, bench fitting and electrical fundamentals. Years 2-4 will be spent on site, rotating around the relevant Operations departments including Operations Engineering, Quality Assurance, Engineering Support Group, Systems Engineering, maintenance and facilities. We expect that our apprentices will avail of the opportunity to qualify at Level 4, having completed a HNC in Engineering (covered in Years 3 and 4).
As an ADC apprentice, you will receive ongoing support for your career development, including additional qualifications where relevant. Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you can expect a role that will match your skills and interests with business requirements.
Requirements:
Successful applicants will have
- Minimum GCSE 5/4 in Maths and English
- Demonstrated their initiative and drive through extra curricular activities
- A keen interest in engineering and a passion to work in the industry
Candidates who are shortlisted by Abbott will then be invited to participate in an assessment conducted by our training provider - we will make contact with all individuals concerned prior to this.
