Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities. West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised individual to join the high performing Legal Safeguarding team in Cheshire West and Chester.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, hardworking, and able team player with a "can do attitude". Experience of working in a Legal Safeguarding team would be advantageous but not essential. Your potential, motivation, work ethic, ability and desire to work as an intrinsic part of a successful and energetic team is more important.

The post holder will be required to work closely with Safeguarding Lawyers to ensure the statutory duties of the Council are met and vulnerable children and adults in the Borough are protected.

The primary function of the role holder is to ensure that Court Bundles and indices fully comply with Court requirements and are received by the Court within the permitted timescales.

However, there are many more opportunities within the role including making requests to the Police for disclosure, taking responsibility for arranging systems access for new starters in accordance with the legal services staff induction programme and mentoring more inexperienced staff members as well as ensuring invoices are processed so payment can be made in a timely manner.

The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis.

Legal Safeguarding is a busy, supportive team. This role offers an interesting and varied workload and the support and encouragement to develop your potential. Our core values are those of the Council – Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Currently as a team we predominantly work from home but with team days on a Tuesday and a Thursday. However, the nature of the role will require attendance at the office on a reasonably frequent basis to ensure Court bundles are dispatched in accordance with Court requirements. The Council offers generous leave allowances (25 rising to 31 days a year) and excellent pension provision.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Catharine Morgan or Mina Moghaddam in the first instance on [email protected] and [email protected].

No candidate will meet every single desired requirement. If your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you!

In your application you should ensure that you provide evidence of how you have demonstrated meeting the Council’s core competencies of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

The contractual work location for this role is listed above however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
