Legal Summer Placement (Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Larbert

At Alexander Dennis we are transforming public transport globally by designing, manufacturing, and servicing the cleanest and greenest buses for our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity for a law student to gain practical experience working within the UK’s leading bus manufacturing company and exposure to a broad range of business areas.

  • 3 to 4 week paid placement
  • 37-hour working week with a half day on a Friday
  • Based at our newly refurbished Larbert head office

The role

  • Spend 3-4 weeks working with our experienced legal team on a variety of legal, commercial, corporate, and compliance matters.
  • We are a fast-paced business with priorities shifting all the time.
  • Legal team works with all parts of the business daily.
  • Develop legal and wider business knowledge, as well as building your technical skills.
  • Your tasks will be dependent on the needs of the business but will generally include:
    • Supporting the legal team
    • Conducting legal research
    • Legal drafting
    • Carrying out legal administrative tasks
    • Attending meetings
  • This is a great opportunity to experience an in-house environment, make new contacts, and enhance your CV.
  • This is an office-based position and the successful applicant will be expected to travel to our office in Larbert (FK5 4RU).

About you

  • This position is open to undergraduate law students (from third year onwards, or who are on the Accelerated LLB, or who have completed a Pre-Peat training contract) and postgraduate students who have completed or are studying for the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.
  • An interest in a future career in the legal profession and in the field of commercial law.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels in a professional manner.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and undertake various administrative duties.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
