We are looking to appoint a Legal Practice Support Assistant to support the Legal Practice Officers in the provision of an effective and efficient practice management and business support function to Legal Services.
You will assist in the processing of new legal cases and inputting of appropriate matter details into the electronic case management system.
You will prepare legal documents for signing and sealing by the Head of Legal and Democratic Services and Principal Solicitors and you will support the Clerk to the independent Education Appeals Panel and Transport Appeals, in accordance with the Statutory and Schools Admission Code, ensuring all statutory and locally agreed processes, timeframes and deadlines are adhered to.
You will be responsible for receiving, filtering, and directing incoming mail and queries, and preparing outgoing mail and bundles for collection, arranging deliveries and collections by courier service.
You will also be processing legal Notices and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, and the Town Police Clauses Act. You will be responsible for processing of income and expenditure, recovering third party legal fees and making payments to courts. You will be responsible for the maintenance, filing and retrieving of legal documents stored in the Town Hall archive.
You will provide accurate, timely and comprehensive administrative support to the Legal and Democratic Service.
To be successful in this position you will be proactive, you will have the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and to strict deadlines.
You will have a good understanding of the Microsoft Office package, with the ability to pick up and work with in-house IT Systems. Attention to detail is critical for this role, and suitable candidates must have demonstrable previous working experience of this.
