We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Officer to join our amazing team. The role is based in Gilwell Park, Chingford, London (with hybrid working).
Woking Hours – 35 hours per week

The Legal Officer:
As a Legal Officer, you' will support the work of the TSA and will involve providing advice and assistance on a wide range of matters with an emphasis on data protection and privacy.
You will also be expected to advise on contracts with funders, suppliers and others, assist in the provision of advice on property and litigation matters including personal injury, safeguarding and safety issues. You will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of the business in order to provide accurate and timely advice and to ensure that TSA is compliant with legislation and best practice.
Key responsibilities as our Legal Officer:
- Advise and guide staff and others on data protection and privacy law and practice including subject access issues. There will be an emphasis in the role of ensuring that TSA responds to routine data subject rights requests within the requirements of the legislation. The role will require close working with the Data Protection Officer and the Head of Legal Services to ensure compliance with data protection legislation
- Provide pragmatic and commercial advice to colleagues on contracts with funders, suppliers, partners and others including drafting and negotiation, manage the contract review and approval process
- Provide advice to both TSA and the trust corporation which acts as custodian trustee on property and conveyancing matters
- Advise on disputes and litigation
- Advise on regulatory matters and compliance including charity and company laws and best practice
- Provision of advice on other legal matters as they arise
What we are looking for in our Legal Officer:
- Demonstrable working experience in a similar role and good legal and administration experience
- Theoretical and practical understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018
- Highly competent user of MS Office packages, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and ability to get up to speed quickly with other packages used by the legal team
- Law degree preferred
