Legal Internship London, England

BenevolentAI
Full Time London, England 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

With over 35 nationalities and a range of backgrounds represented in our Benevolent team, we aim to build an inclusive environment where our people can bring their authentic selves to work, be respected for who they are and the exceptional work they do. We welcome and actively encourage applications from all sections of society and are committed to offering equal employment opportunities regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity, parental status, disability, age, citizenship, or any other basis. We see our diversity as an asset as we tackle challenging problems that bridge the gap between drug discovery and technology.

The Role

BenevolentAI’s Compliance, Legal and IP (CLIP) team is looking for an enthusiastic legal intern to work on a wide variety of exciting team projects. This will be a full-time role over the three month summer period (June/July/August).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the drafting and reviewing of Non-Disclosure Agreements, Master Service Agreements, Work Orders, privacy and other regularly used legal documents;
  • Providing general ad-hoc commercial legal, IP and compliance support across the breadth of the business, including legal research;
  • Contract management – helping with the running of our contract management solution across the business;
  • Supporting the IP and Compliance teams with ad-hoc legal input covering IP protection, licensing, data protection, business continuity and other compliance processes;
  • Working on one or more focused team projects.

We're looking for someone with

  • Good academic background (GCSE and A Level results, or equivalent).
  • Second or third year law undergraduate at a reputable university or other degree with a strong interest in law (and already based in London for the summer with the right to work in the UK full-time over the period of the internship, if currently studying elsewhere).
  • A “can do” attitude and a willingness to learn and exist outside of your comfort zone.
  • Interest, knowledge and experience of the technology and/or life sciences and biotechnology sectors and surrounding law and regulation is important but not as essential as an enthusiasm to jump in and learn!
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous legal work experience (private practice or in-house) is beneficial but not vital.

Nice to haves

  • Previous legal work experience (private practice or in-house).

Notes

Applications close on Wednesday 1st March 2023. Our interview process will commence after applications close and will take place over 3-4 weeks. Internships can commence anytime from Monday, June 5th 2023

In addition to your CV, please send us a cover letter.
