Role Responsibilities
- Recommend and implement Miller’s legal strategy
- Provide effective legal advice to manage legal risk across the business
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations and practice in all jurisdictions affecting Miller;
- Ensure that future changes and developments in legislation, regulations (in conjunction with the Compliance team), guidelines and practices affecting Miller are analysed, evaluated and reported
- Ensure that all aspects of legal risk across the business are identified and controlled in the implementation of new projects, systems and procedures
- Maintain up to date knowledge of Miller policies and procedures
- Provide education, training and support to the business on relevant legal issues and developments
- Provide legal advice and support to the business, ensuring that such advice is timely and of a high standard
- Assist in design and implementation of procedures to manage/reduce legal exposures across the business
- Apply legal skills to the drafting and negotiation of contracts
- Act as liaison between Miller staff and external legal advisors where required and as appropriate
- Adhere to and meet fully the expectations of Miller, as set out in its policies and procedures, training material, and embedded in its systems and controls. Our policies and procedures are written to encapsulate the compliance, legal and financial crime related legislation and regulations which apply to Miller.
- Comply with any external rules and requirements imposed on individuals performing their role at Miller, such as Lloyd’s byelaws and FCA rules.
- Promote Miller brand and values to enhance Miller’s reputation in the market
Qualifications
Qualified solicitor
Knowledge
Insurance (ideally broking, experience at an insurer considered); general corporate/commercial experience
