This is an exciting opportunity to join the legal team in a multinational company working across various jurisdictions. We are looking for a strategically minded candidate who can pro-actively carry out the necessary day-to-day legal tasks but also act as a business partner to help shape and improve the legal team and the wider business objectives. Reporting to Senior Legal Counsel the successful candidate will advise on all legal and compliance issues across all EthosEnergy’s Eastern Hemisphere business streams. The Eastern Hemisphere is largely comprised of the EMEA region as well as some of the APAC region. The Legal Counsel will engage with the business at many different levels to anticipate and provide guidance on a wide variety of legal and compliance issues.
If successful candidate is based in Aberdeen, this position is available on a Hybrid basis. For candidates within rest of UK, position is available on a Remote basis.
Job Responsibilities
- Reviewing and negotiating legal documentation with external parties including contracts, terms and conditions, agency documents, NDAs, MoUs, settlement arrangements, parent company guarantees and approvals for all of the above.
- Drafting legal documentation for EthosEnergy internal businesses including secondment letters/contracts, powers of attorney, data sharing/corporate services agreements.
- Actively develop and deliver on-line and in-person training on contract terms, data privacy and other legal issues.
- Advising on settlement options and negotiation of disputes.
- Conducting legal research.
- Liaising with HR, Insurance, Tax, Treasury and Compliance in relation to contract structures and other company matters.
- Company secretarial matters for all EH entities and branches.
- Advice on undertaking business in new geographical locations including new branch and entity set up as required.
- Lead closing down existing EH entities and branches as required.
- Providing advice on various other legal matters including property transactions, banking, employment, IP, data privacy, debt recovery and corporate re-structuring.
- Providing legal advice to operations and other teams.
- Managing outside counsel on litigation and other disputes.
- Assist in creating and revising policies and procedures for EthosEnergy.
- Monitor external developments in relation to new legislation and enforcement.
- Assisting with Bribery Act/ Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA”) due diligence
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Qualified lawyer (Scots/English law) with a strong legal and commercial background.
- Contract review experience as well as a background in corporate and commercial matters required.
- Exposure to dispute resolution and employment law issues would be advantageous.
- Experience practising law either for a law firm or in-house. In-house experience would be advantageous.
- Contract drafting.
- Good interpersonal skills, energetic and capable of self-direction.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in conducting training and delivering presentations.
Experience
- Fully qualified lawyer but no minimum PQE required
Education Requirements
- Law degree and fully qualified to practice in Scots or English Law

- Candidates can be based within commutable distance of our Aberdeen, Lincoln or Worcester office.
