Job Title: Legal Assistant - Personal Injury Law Firm
Job Summary:
Our prestigious personal injury law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Assistant to join our dynamic team. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys in all aspects of personal injury cases. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Legal Assistant in a personal injury law firm or a similar legal setting. Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing and managing personal injury cases from inception to settlement or trial.
- Conduct comprehensive research on case-specific legal issues and provide well-organized summaries to support attorneys' decision-making process.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and correspondence.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, ensuring all documents are properly organized and accessible.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, hearings, and trial dates, and maintain attorneys' calendars.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other relevant parties.
- Prepare and submit court filings, ensuring compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines.
- Assist with client intake, including gathering and organizing relevant documents and information.
- Conduct factual investigations, such as obtaining medical records, police reports, and other supporting evidence.
- Assist attorneys during trials, including organizing exhibits, managing trial binders, and preparing witness files.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a personal injury law firm or similar legal setting.
- Proficiency in legal research, writing, and drafting various legal documents.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
- Familiarity with relevant legal software and databases.
- Knowledge of court rules and procedures, particularly in personal injury cases.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and other common office software.
Education:
- Associate degree or equivalent certification in a legal studies program is preferred but not required.
