The Opportunity
- Monitoring and calendarizing activities/deadlines and liaising with necessary internal and external parties regarding those deadlines/activities;
- Executing court filings;
- Monitoring emails and responding to client inquiries in a timely manner under the direction of a senior professional or partner;
- Maintaining, organizing and updating the litigation department’s docket system of due dates for action and follow up;
- Executive assistance duties such as scheduling, prioritizing and taking phone calls;
- General administrative tasks including file management and maintenance and liaising with finance for billing matters; and
- Other duties as required.
What You Will Bring
- A post-secondary diploma or certificate as either a legal assistant, law clerk or paralegal;
- 3+ years of legal experience, especially in a litigation context, would be an asset;
- A P1 License issued by the Law Society of Ontario would be an asset;
- Executive assistance experience, especially at a partner level, would be an asset;
- A high degree of accuracy;
- Professional oral and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills;
- The ability to coordinate and calendarize multiple deadlines, schedules and workflows;
- Experience with Federal Court procedures would be an asset;
- The ability to work alone and in a team environment;
- A familiarity with legal applications, Adobe and the Microsoft Suite is an asset; and
- Bilingualism in both French and English is an asset.
