About the Role
The Legal Services team at OPTrust is led by Stephen Solursh, General Counsel and Senior Vice President. The team is responsible for the provision of legal advice and related operational support to the organization and the Board of Trustees. The team has 3 subgroups: Corporate Secretary, Legal Operations, and Investment Counsel. Training will be provided on OPTrust procedures, systems and work processes. What You’ll Do
- Assist the legal team at our downtown Toronto office location with physical file management of highly confidential legal documents, including photocopying and ensuring consistency of naming conventions
- Utilize iManage file management system to digitize physical files for the team to easily access
- Support the legal team in preparing for its move to a new office space in the fall
- Job shadow various legal meetings and proceedings such as arbitrations
- Other tasks as assigned
What You Bring
- 6-week Internship, July - August
- Ability to work in-office 5 days’ per week, some flexibility to work remote occasionally
- Working towards high school diploma
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Sound judgment and initiative, including ability to work with confidential information
- Interest in learning about the legal field
