Wedlake Bell's highly regarded Utilities team are recruiting a legal administrator to join their team, to support the fee-earners as they advise on and litigate matters in the Utilities sector.
The Utilities team are a specialist team dealing with large utilities provider clients – including the majority of Big Five electricity and gas providers in the UK – acting on a range of disputes work. Matters can include court litigation, debt recovery, insolvencies, as well as some advisory work on licensing and regulatory issues.
A legal administrator in this team will support paralegals and associates in handling a busy caseload of disputes matters, particularly the enforcement of court judgements in relation to debt collection.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a law graduate or experienced administrator to develop your disputes legal knowledge while working in a close-knit team, with true emphasis on your professional development.
Key role duties:
- Support fee-earners as they handle a caseload of utilities disputes matters, and providing support to senior team members on more complex litigation support
- Drafting claims, statutory demands, bankruptcy and winding-up petitions, etc
- Conduct legal research, and apply to active caseloads
- Produce court bundles and liaise with court on matters
- Being a day-to-day contact for clients for updates on their cases and providing legal advice
- Maintaining up-to-date schedules for both internal and client uses
Attributes:
- Ideally but not essential, having practical administration experience in a legal setting
- Ideally but not essential, having knowledge of the utilities sector and relevant issues
- Ideally but not essential have a legal qualification
- Excellent communication skills – must be able to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of seniority and on both an internal and external basis
- Must have the ability to formulate and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally
- Able to work well under pressure and in keeping with deadlines
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Strong IT, organizational skills
- Able to manage own workload and show initiative
- Flexible in approach to work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
