Our established finance team is recruiting a ledger manager. In this role, you will be responsible for taking ownership of the accounts receivables for the group and ensuring that the credit control procedures are maintained and adhered to.
Working directly for the group financial controller, the ledger manager will be responsible for all the company’s credit and collections activities throughout the UK, the EU and other territories, and have an input into reviewing and developing new processes.
You will also seek to maximise cash flow by accurately forecasting collections weekly and monthly. The ledger manager will have experience with the purchase ledger and will support the purchase ledger executive when required. Previous experience in bookkeeping would be an advantage as this role will involve reconciliation work for the accounts receivable ledger and the general ledger too.
You will be responsible for:
Planning of cash collections on both a weekly and monthly basis and providing strategic information required by the finance controller and directors;
Ensuring all payments received are allocated daily and all queries are reconciled and that all invoices and statements are sent to customers promptly;
Maintaining clear and consistent records of query resolution, remittance reconciliation and progress notes against customer records;
Following up all due debt with clear, concise reports and communication both internally and with customers;
Managing exposure to bad debts by constantly monitoring credit limits and liaising with credit referring agencies to minimise risk;
Ensuring credit control disciplines are maintained and adhered to regarding credit limits and credit procedures and policies, identifying opportunities and facilitating continual process improvement;
Managing the legal process for the recovery of debt, actively chasing debt as and when required, and taking the lead in reviewing more complex and/or difficult accounts;
Developing structured methods to reduce aged debts and continuous reduction of the debtor days for the business, working to set targets;
Dealing with customer queries, including over payments and refunds;
Taking on accounts payable queries in the absence of the accounts payable executive; and
Helping with the general ledger with reconciliation work.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A proven credit control background in a similar capacity;
To be proactive, with a hands-on approach to problem solving;
To be able to deliver to agreed commitments on time;
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office/Excel;
To be organised, coupled with strong interpersonal skills;
To take the initiative and to work well under pressure; and
Experience gained within a previous credit control role with relevant qualifications.
Remuneration: £32,000 – £36,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Basis: Full-time, permanent
Location: Home-based within the UK
