About the vacancy:
Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Public Health (G or H Grade, 1.0 FTE permanent): 2 vacancies.
1 vacancy 0.5 FTE fixed time for 2 years (or the earlier return of the post holder)
About you:
We are seeking two enthusiastic and inspiring individuals to join UWE Bristol’s multidisciplinary Public Health academic team on a full-time permanent basis (1.0 FTE).
We especially welcome applications from individuals committed to delivering an inclusive learning experience for a diverse student population. The successful appointees will contribute to the internationally accredited MSc in Public Health, the recently established BSc Hons Public Health Degree Apprenticeship and other linked awards within the University.
We are seeking individuals who are adaptable and creative, and who can work independently and as collegiate team member. Then post holder will plan, manage and deliver teaching, assessment and student supervision to a high standard, whilst developing and advancing their academic profile.
We are especially keen to appoint someone with experience of teaching or working in public health leadership, who can contribute to leadership teaching across the public health programmes. The new appointees will either have a higher education teaching and learning qualification or be required to complete this during the first year of appointment.
About us:
The Public Health team is based within the School of Health and Social Wellbeing and located at the University’s main Frenchay campus. The internationally accredited Master’s in Public Health and the recently validated BSc Hons Public Health Degree Apprenticeship have strong synergy with our Environmental Health and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programmes, which are co-located within this School.
The MSc in Public Health is extending its delivery to Hainan Medical University in China from September 2023, which could provide opportunities for successful appointees to contribute to teaching, supervision and research with Hainan colleagues at their campus in China.
The Public and Environmental Health teams also form the core membership of UWE Bristol’s Research Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing. UWE Bristol academics build their careers through a combination of learning and teaching, research and knowledge exchange, and external engagement - regional, national and/or international. The Public Health team is strongly committed to achieving high standards of inclusive teaching and student engagement and towards advancing high quality research with impact.
