Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Learning Disability Nursing Kingston upon Thames, England

Kingston University
Full Time Kingston upon Thames, England 42182 - 55431 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

We are seeking to expand our team with an enthusiastic healthcare professional with passion and expertise in Learning Disabilities practice to join our established team of academics to develop the future nursing and healthcare workforce. Alongside and intrinsic to this is co-production with service users and their carers.

In this key role you will strive to enhance nursing and healthcare practice and the reputation of our School of Nursing and Faculty in the field of Learning Disability healthcare.

Being resourceful, highly motivated, creative, and ambitious, you will contribute to the development and delivery of a range of high quality, vibrant and innovative modules, and courses at different academic levels across the areas of Learning Disabilities. This includes students on our pre-registration FdSc Nursing Associate and BSc (Hons) and MSc nursing courses, and post-qualifying BSc/MSc Healthcare Practice and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programmes.

Alongside being involved in the pastoral care of students both within the University and in clinical practice, you will be encouraged and supported to further your interests in research, enterprise, or professional practice.

The Person

You are likely to be a nurse or allied health professional with current professional registration and a Master’s degree in an aspect of healthcare (or be working towards this). It is also likely that you will hold a teaching qualification such as the UKPSF2 or PGCHE, but if not you will be willing to undertake our in-house teaching programme during your probationary period.

You will be creative, enthusiastic, and flexible, with excellent communication skills and an ability to inspire and teach a diverse range of students at different stages in their professional career. You may be an established lecturer, or a highly experienced practitioner or practice educator with a keen interest in higher education and developing the future workforce.

By the end of your probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

The Faculty

Our people are passionate about developing nurses for the future, in each of the four fields of nursing – adult, child, learning disability and mental health; and are committed to providing contemporary, cutting-edge continuing professional development for qualified health care professionals.

Further information

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £42,182 per annum for a Lecturer or £47,004 per annum for a Senior Lecturer, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Interviews will be held on Monday 3rd July 2023.

For informal enquiries please contact Trish Griffin Associate Professor in the School of Nursing.

Bring your true self, expertise, and passion to Kingston where we are continuing to strive to build a university where authentic inclusion and belonging is at its heart.
