About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our lively and supportive team of Primary and Early Years education specialists, committed to providing a rich and engaging preparation for those wishing to enter the teaching profession.
You could be our next Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the area of Primary Teacher Education and Early Years Teacher Education. We are particularly looking to recruit applicants with a specialism in Early Years and, ideally, science to teach across our postgraduate Early Years Initial Teacher Education and our 3-11 undergraduate and postgraduate Primary Education with QTS courses.
You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to bring the best out of staff and to lead on and/or participate in appropriate research projects. You should have a commitment to your own personal professional development, and will be supported in this, including in further study where relevant. You should have a good understanding of the current educational climate and the vision to deliver high quality programmes of study.

Initial Teacher Education Programmes
Forming a central part of the wide range of education provision offered in the Institute of Education at Nottingham Trent University, our Postgraduate Early Years Initial Teacher Training (PGEYITT) course is a one-year employment-based route working closely with partners in the Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) early years sector and our Primary education courses consist of our four-year undergraduate route and our various PGCE routes including the Teacher Apprenticeship.
The Institute enjoys excellent partnership links with a wide range of schools and other educational settings, and has been proactive and successful in responding to new ways of preparing resilient and highly qualified teachers to enter the profession
About Us
You'll be joining a large and supportive team of Primary and Early Years specialist colleagues, and will contribute to both subject specific and general professional provision. With a clear passion for and strong background in early years in the PVI sector and/or Primary education in school settings, you'll ideally have experience of successfully supporting trainees whilst on placement. Experience in the HEI sector is particularly welcomed.
You'll be aware of current issues in Primary and Early Years Education and have a thorough understanding of curriculum and best practice (pedagogy) within this sector, whilst being able to analyse a range of data to inform developments in the provision and to ensure excellent student outcomes and experience. Experience of how to prepare thoroughly and successfully for Ofsted inspection is essential. You'll have a strong commitment to, and experience of, the maintenance and development of partnership links with existing and new partners, and a genuine personal and professional openness to new ways of working in strategic response to sector changes.
